President

Joseph J. Pollaci joined Nucor Construction Corp in 2011 as a principal of the firm, stepping into the family business alongside his father, Mark A. Pollaci.

Joseph J. Pollaci joined Nucor Construction Corp in 2011 as a principal of the firm, stepping into the family business alongside his father, Mark A. Pollaci. His transition to construction followed nearly a decade-long career in commercial real estate, where he built a strong reputation as a tenant representative broker negotiating complex office leases in New York City, across the United States, and internationally.

Joseph quickly immersed himself in all aspects of the company, assuming the role of project executive to support operations in the field, while also acting as a sales executive to drive business development. Over his first few years, he led the modernization of every department: building an estimating division, implementing project management software, and introducing new protocols across both administrative and field operations.

Joseph assumed operational control in 2014 and was appointed President of Nucor Construction a year later. Since taking the helm, he has instilled a disciplined growth mindset throughout the firm, expanded its leadership and sales teams, and positioned Nucor to meet the evolving demands of the commercial construction market. Under his leadership, the company has more than doubled in both size and revenue—and aims to double again over the next 10 years. In 2019, Joseph led the strategic acquisition of a Long Island-based general contracting team, extending Nucor’s reach and strengthening its talent bench.

Joseph’s leadership was especially critical during the COVID-19 pandemic, when he chose to invest deeply in people and systems instead of retreating. He continues to innovate internally and steer Nucor toward sustainable growth as it enters its fourth decade of operation.

Joseph holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Providence College. He has served on the alumni board of Chaminade High School and on various boards of respected institutions and clubs. He is an active member of Vistage and YPO, two global leadership organizations.

In addition to his role at Nucor, Joseph serves as Executive Chairman of the Shalom Center for Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation, a 501(c)(3) organization focused on promoting peace and stability in conflict-affected regions of Africa.

Andy Byrus serves as Vice President, Director of Construction at Nucor Construction Corp., bringing more than four decades of hands-on experience in the construction industry.

Andy Byrus serves as Vice President, Director of Construction at Nucor Construction Corp., bringing more than four decades of hands-on experience in the construction industry. He joined Nucor in 2019 as a Senior Project Manager, where he quickly distinguished himself with his operational expertise and leadership acumen. In recognition of his outstanding contributions, Andy was promoted to his current role in 2021.

Prior to joining Nucor, Andy dedicated 35 years to a mid-sized general contracting firm based on Long Island. There, he worked across every facet of the business—from estimating and project management to field operations and client relations—ultimately overseeing the firm’s entire operations. His deep-rooted understanding of the construction lifecycle and leadership in both strategic planning and on-site execution have made him a key asset in guiding complex commercial interior projects to successful completion.

As Director of Construction, Andy is responsible for the overall management and performance of Nucor’s field operations. His role is critical in ensuring a seamless transition from preconstruction through construction, maintaining strict adherence to project schedules and budgets. Andy oversees the implementation of quality control and quality assurance protocols, ensuring each project meets the highest standards of workmanship. He is also charged with upholding Nucor’s rigorous safety culture across all active job sites, mentoring project teams, and facilitating clear communication between stakeholders, subcontractors, and field personnel. Under his guidance, Nucor continues to deliver exceptional results while cultivating trust and reliability across every client relationship.

Eugene Mayzel

Chief Estimator

Eugene began his career in construction in 2002 and joined Nucor Construction in 2011. Starting as an Estimator, he advanced to Chief of Estimating and Purchasing as the company grew.

Recognized for his strong leadership and unmatched attention to detail, Eugene now leads a team of five estimators while continuing to take on the company’s most complex projects. He has also been a member of Nucor’s executive team since its formation in 2021. Eugene holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Latvian State University and has earned certifications in Construction Estimating and Database Development.

Outside of work, he enjoys traveling with his family, practicing martial arts, listening to deep house music, and working out—maintaining a personal commitment to 100 push-ups a day.

Alex Barranco

Alex Barranco has served as Controller of Nucor Construction Corp. since 2020, bringing with him a results-driven approach and a passion for modernization.

Controller

Alex Barranco has served as Controller of Nucor Construction Corp. since 2020, bringing with him a results-driven approach and a passion for modernization. Tasked with succeeding a long-tenured predecessor, Alex quickly became a transformative force in the company’s finance operations. He reengineered departmental processes and protocols to align with current market dynamics and modern construction-industry standards.

Under his leadership, Nucor’s finance function has become more strategically integrated with operations. Alex introduced upgraded technologies, streamlined reporting systems, and enhanced controls over revenue recognition through more disciplined work-in-progress (WIP) accounting. He also established annual budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and other forward-looking practices that strengthened Nucor’s ability to deliver predictable financial performance and responsive project controls.

Reporting directly to the President, Alex oversees all core accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, payroll, and cash management. Beyond accounting, he manages Human Resources, leads the company’s banking relationships, negotiates insurance renewals, and plays an active role in legal, compliance, and risk management. His responsibilities extend well beyond traditional controllership, functioning as the company’s senior financial leader.

Prior to joining Nucor, Alex held Controller roles with multiple general contractors as well as a private equity–backed national flooring company, giving him a robust understanding of both general contractor and specialty contractor operations. He began his career at PwC in public accounting, where he built a strong technical foundation and earned his CPA license. Alex holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Hofstra University.

Constance Acevedo

Director of Administration

Connie Acevedo oversees all administrative functions across the project lifecycle, including contract execution, submittals, insurance compliance, and closeout.

Connie Acevedo joined Nucor Construction Corp. in 2016 and was appointed Director of Administration in 2020. She oversees all administrative functions across the project lifecycle, including contract execution, submittals, insurance compliance, and closeout. Connie also leads Nucor’s marketing and client engagement efforts, managing proposal development and digital strategy.

A key member of the Leadership Team, she ensures operational efficiency, maintains company-wide administrative standards, and supports project delivery with a focus on precision, safety, and accountability.

A former NJCAA Division I track and field athlete, Connie brings discipline, focus, and a solutions-driven mindset to every aspect of her role.
